Punjab Government, with a view to provide for delivery of services to the people of the state within given time limits, notified Punjab Right to Service ordinance on 14/7/2011. The ordinance came into force w.e.f. 28th July, 2011 when 67 services were notified under Section 3 of the ordinance. Under Section 12 there is a provision of constitution of Punjab Right to Service Commission.
Punjab Right to Service Act, 2011 stands notified on 20th October, 2011.
The commission consists of 1 Chief Commissioner and 4 Commissioners. The Commission is being constituted.
The Punjab Right to Service Commission will ensure proper implementation of the Punjab Right to Service Act and to make suggestions to the state government for ensuring better delivery of services. The commission has been given the powers of revision against the orders of 2nd Appellate Authority.
